Citrus Yuzu

$39.99

Medium-sized tree, upright, spreading and vigorous. Elongated shaped leaves with a winged petiole. Very spiny tree with thorns 3-4cm long. Delicate, mildly scented, white flowers followed by yellow fruit with a pebbly, rough, thick skin. Numerous large seeds. A sour and very fragrant citrus bred for it’s zest and strongly flavoured juice. Japanese cross between lemon, mandarin and grapefruit. Grows approximately 4m high x 3m wide.

Ideal in a full sun position with fertile, well drained soil. One of the more cold hardy citrus, but good practise is to protect from frosts while young. More tolerant once established and when mulched well. Handles some salt conditions but requires protection from strong winds. Heavy feeder requiring a high nitrogen fertiliser through spring and summer. Water regularly during fruit development in hot, dry spells. Prune in spring.
