Winter brings a dormancy period to the garden. Deciduous plants drop their leaves and hunker down to conserve energy for a strong growing season in spring once again. While the plants may not be up to much, they still require a little care to remain healthy. Employing a winter spray program in your garden reduces and eliminates the amount of pests & diseases that hibernate alongside your plants which would otherwise become strong and active again once warmer weather arrives.

Amidst spraying, late winter brings the task of pruning deciduous trees & shrubs. For great success, ensure you have good quality, sharp and sterile tools so you aren’t spreading disease, and have a pruning paste on hand to treat the wound afterwards.

• Start with a treatment of Yates Lime Sulfur to clean up moss, lichen, overwintering pests & diseases.
  Lime Sulfur induces dormancy, causing final leaf drop on deciduous trees & forms a protective barrier around the plant.

  Both sprays are certified organic and safe to use on all plants – down to food crops with no withholding period.
• Use Grosafe Organic Prune ‘n’ Paste or Yates PruneTec Sealant as a ‘band-aid’ post-pruning.
  Coat the wounds of your tree after pruning to prevent disease taking hold and encourage efficient healing.
