Chosen for consistent performance in the home garden, shallots are the connoisseurs pickled onion. The small, globe shaped shallots have a mild onion flavour with a hint of garlic. The bulbs may be used in place of onion in many recipes and the leaves can be cut and used like chives or spring onions.
