Cyathea dealbata – Ponga, Silver Fern

The most recognised national emblem worn by many of our sporting heroes. Early Maori used the silver backed fronds to find their way down a dark track. Slow to grow as it is commonly used as a pot plant indoors.

Slow-growing fern up to 10m. Prefers a shady position. Grows outdoors in a large pot, or planted into a fernery or native garden with shade and shelter.
