Pittosporum eugenioides (Tarata, Lemonwood)
Long, pointed, lightly crinkled, green leaves which have a strong lemon scent when crushed. Rounded top form with black branches and stems. Evergreen. Produces small, fragrant, pale yellow flowers in summer. Clips well to any shape or form. Plant one per metre for hedging. Also useful as a screening plant or as a stand-alone specimen tree. Fast growing tree, growing up to 1m in it’s first year. Grows approximately 5m high x 4m wide in 10 years.
Full sun to part shade. Thrives in fertile, moist, well drained soil. Tolerates drought. Suitable for coastal conditions. Frost hardy.
