Pyrus pyrifolia ‘Kosui’ (Nashi Pear, Asian Pear)

Medium-large, round fruit with golden-brown skin. Very sweet with juicy, crisp flesh. Considered more flavoursome than ‘Hosui’. Ripens late Januray-February. Good for freezing, preserving and eating fresh. Cross pollinate with ‘Hosui’ or ‘Nijisseiki’. Forms an attractive tree with large leaves. Good for espalier training. Grows approximately 6m high x 4m wide.

Prefers a sunny and sheltered position in moist, well drained soil. Water well during dry periods and while fruit is developing. Nashis grow best in cooler climates with mild summers.
