Liquidambar stryaciflua ‘Gumball’

A unique, dwarf form of the traditional Liquidambar tree with a dense, rounded, shrubby habit grafted to give a stunning topiary effect. ‘Gumball’ will only grow into a ball shape at the top of it’s short trunk – not a huge tree! Maple-like leaves will provide a brilliant display in the autumn of red, gold, orange and purple. A wonderful, small tree for any garden situation where a large tree is not appropriate. Makes a wonderful specimen in a large pot. Deciduous. Will grow approximately 2.5m in height and 2m in width in 10 years.

Best planted in full sun but suitable for part shade positions. Prefers a fertile, free draining soil that does not dry out completely in summer. Very hardy and easy care. No pruning required to maintain compact shape.
