Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Lane Roberts’ (American Sweetgum)
One of the most reliable for its autumn colour which is a distinctive, rich black/crimson-red. Smooth bark and a fine, upright, conical form. Wonderful specimen tree, needs room to grow! Grows approximately 7m high x 5m wide in 10 years.
Performs best with full sun in moist, well drained soils. In dry soil, produces a taproot that helps reinforce it against wind, but in wetter soil, only grows superficial roots and cannot tolerate much wind.
