Hydrangea aspera ‘Hot Chocolate’ (Lacecap Hydrangea)

‘Hot Chocolate’ is a deciduous shrub with large, lacecap flowers. Around the edge of the main flower are attractive pink flowers with fertile, blue flowers in the centre for a lovely contrast. Flowers appear from Christmas onwards. The foliage has a striking burgundy underside with chocolate-brown on top, fading to a deep green later in the season. Amber colour in autumn. Deciduous. Grows approximately 1-1.2m round.

Prefers a part shade position in well drained soil. Regular watering is beneficial. Frost hardy. A hardy shrub responding well to a light trim if needed in late winter.
