Cornus alba ‘Sibirica’ (Siberian Dogwood)
Known best for it’s thick, bright red stems which intensify in colour during the cooler winter months. Produces spherical clusters of small, cream flowers in spring, followed by small, blue-white, berry-like fruit. Slow growing, deciduous. Has a tidy, upright form which can grow up to 3m high x 2m wide. Trims well to a smaller size.
Full sun or a position with afternoon shade in the summer. Prefers rich, moist, well drained, acidic soils. ‘Sibirica’ is quite tolerant of very wet growing conditions, making it quite adaptable to most garden settings. It is recommended to cut back right to the ground every few years to promote fresh growth.
