Camellia japonica ‘Midnight’

Black buds open to medium-large sized, dark blood-red, semi-double, rose form camellia blooms. Opening fully to reveal gorgeous, golden stamens. Flowers mid-season. Evergreen shrub with glossy, dark foliage on upright form. Grows approximately 2m high x 1.5m wide. Suitable for general gardens, containers, espalier or bonsai. Ideal for screening and can be closely clipped.

Plant in cool, moist, lime-free soil. Best in dappled or part shade with morning sun. Dense shade will restrict flowering. Protect from high winds and frosts. Apply acidic fertiliser, compost and/or peat moss to improve pH of soil. Mulch roots in summer to keep cool and retain moisture.
