Berberis thunbergii ‘Maria’ (Japanese Barberry)

This wonderful Berberis will brighten any garden. Bright red shoots in spring turning lime green and deepening to a rich yellow. Holds the colour right through autumn when it takes on tones of apricot and orange before the foliage falls. ‘Maria’ stays nicely compact with an upright form offering great structure in the garden. Will grow approximately 1m high x 50cm wide. Deciduous.

Plant in full sun or partial shade. Reasonably tolerant but prefers a well drained soil. An easy care shrub that requires little attention. Can be trimmed to shape during late winter. Feed annually with slow release fertiliser.
