Banksia integrifolia – Coastal Banksia
A medium-sized tree with rough, fissured, grey bark and dull green leaves. From autumn to spring it produces a profusion of long, pale yellow flower spikes, followed by silvery-grey cones. Ideal of coastal gardens and erosion control. The flowers provide winter colour in the garden and attract nectar feeding birds. Mature size of 10-15m tall by 10m wide.
Grow in a sunny position in well drained soil. Will grow in most soils from sand to clay. Tolerates coastal conditions, windy exposed sites and frost. Benefits from watering during dry spells in summer. Prune well after flowering to encourage new growth and enhance flower production the following season.
