Deciduous Azalea. ‘Red Giant’ produces rounded trusses of very large, single, frilled, dark orange-red flowers. Neat, double, hose in hose form blooms. Upright shrub growing approximately 1.5m.
Prefers full sun but will grow well in partly shaded positions. Requires well-draining, rich, acidic soil. Fully hardy and tolerant to frosts. Water regularly during hot and dry periods. Fertilise in spring with acid fertiliser and mulch with organic material. Prune for shape if needed, and deadhead old buds to encourage new growth next season.
