Feijoa sellowiana are seedling plants primarily grown for hedging, with a benefit of fruit. Very strong, hardy grower with adaptable qualities. Ovular, green leaves with silver underside. Produces masses of small, red, Pohutukawa-like flowers from early summer. Grows approx 2-3m and very easily trims to size. Plant 1 plants per metre for hedging.

Sellowiana will fruit just as well as any Feijoa cultivar but may not adhere to certain traits. Size and flavour may vary. Tends to produce small-medium sized fruit in autumn. Can take approximately 7 years to fruit after planting.

Plant all year round in fertile, well drained soil with plenty of organic matter in a full sun position. Mulch after planting to support a healthy root system. Frost and drought tolerant. Performs best in average-drier soils with moisture during fruit development, but will tolerate periods of quite wet conditions. Fertilise in late winter.
