March Update

Kaitoke School had a lesson on seed germination & growth. They planted carrot & radish seeds with seed-raising mix.
In this photo the students are preparing the garden beds for planting pea seeds.
Next up on the list for the Kaitoke gardens, they are looking to plant some annual flowers or succulents for something a bit different. They’ll also be preparing climbing frames for the peas once they germinate, and refreshing the soil.

October Update
Kaitoke School have been busy growing tasty strawberries, salad greens, and planting various new fruiting shrubs. ‘Reduce, reuse, recycle’ has been a strong ethic as old tyres have been repurposed into unique, mini garden beds. They’ve developed a garden around their outdoor kitchen area to be able to create ‘safe potions’ and explorative play creations from edible herbs & flowers.

“At Kaitoke School we have just started a gardening club that the children can join. We are meeting one afternoon a week. This week was our first meeting, where we did lots of clearing out of our garden boxes that have been unloved for quite a while. Any help would be very welcome.”
Kaitoke School requested a starter pack containing the following;
– Bulk Garden Mix
– iCan Gardening Gloves
– Zealandia Vegetable Seedlings
– Weed Spray
– Hand Trowels
