Bulls School
School Gardening Partnership 2024
October Update
Bulls School is looking to focus on establishing bee and butterfly friendly gardens. These are useful pollinator insects and it’s fantastic to see them getting into every aspect of gardening.
The students had a lesson highlighting Monarch butterflies. During this they set about planting half a dozen swan plants, plus seeds to allow continuous food supply for the incoming caterpillars.
June Update
Strawberry season is upon us! I feel like planting strawberries is a quintessential step in getting children involved with gardening.
May Update
The next stage of learning involved getting up close and personal with beneficial insects in the garden. Starting with insect hotels. The students received a letter from Bertie the Beetle requesting their help to build new houses.
I think they’re wonderfully innovative and I’m very impressed with their resourcefulness!
March – Getting Going
“We just recently received the Enviroschool Silver award and are working towards several projects within the school, with gardening using vegetables, flowers and the process involved, composting and worm farms.” – Leigh, Bulls School Partnership Coordinator
First things first, they requested daffodil bulbs to fill in a lovely grass space and brighten it up. With aspirations to pick and sell bundles to the community later down the line.
We provided a big, mixed bag and the students got straight into it. Eagerly awaiting a bright spring.
