Churton School Vegetable Competition Profile

Our final garden

Nestled down a narrow alleyway next to the school pool lies a project that students at Aramoho’s Churton School are pretty proud of.

For the past eight weeks, under the guidance of school principal and garden facilitator Andrew Spence, six students have seen a variety of vegetables grow from seedlings to fully fledged plants.

Update April 15th

The enviro group at Churton School are loving the challenge of maintaining the garden and keeping white butterfly off the plants. For the kids it’s all about sustainability and longevity. They want to expand the garden and make it last for a long time.

Churton School staff and students receive their Vegetable Garden Starter Kit from Gareth Carter, Springvale Garden Centre General Manager.

“This competition compliments what we are already doing at the school. We wanted to ensure that the gardens were sustainable at Churton School. Last year we established an Enviro group of students, who were passionate about growing vegetables at the School. The Springvale Garden Centre’s donation has ensured we get off to a good start in 2021.”
