Strelitzia reginae var. parvifolia (Spoonleaf Bird of Paradise)
Clumping perennial with blueish-grey leaves which are smaller and more spoon-shaped than that of the traditional S. reginae. Striking orange and blue flowers, resembling exotic birds, are displayed on tall stems throughout the warmer months. Ideal for large pots and adding a tropical touch to the garden or patio. Flowers and leaves are good for use in cut arrangements. Grows approximately 1.5 x 1.5m.
Prefers fertile, well drained soil in full sun, with some protection from harsh summer heat. Keep moist in summer and drier in winter. Protect from heavy frost.
