A tasty and prolific broad bean selected by Denis Hughes in Tapanui, Otago. ‘Hughey’ produces attractive scarlet flowers that add some welcome Winter colour to the garden. The succulent, nutty flavoured beans stay bright green when cooked. This is a tall growing variety that needs some form of support or staking.
