North American species of Oak. Hardy, deciduous tree with a wide, spreading crown. Deeply lobed, shiny, green leaves turn a rich scarlet in autumn. Beautiful specimen or shade tree for large gardens, parks and farms. Grows approximately 10m high x 6m wide in 10 years.
Prefers a sunny to partly shaded position in moist, well drained soil. Tolerates dry conditions once established. Keep moist and mulch well while young. Frost hardy and tolerant of wind.
