Prunus yedoensis ‘Awanui’ (Yoshino Cherry)

This New Zealand selected flowering cherry smothers itself in pale pink blossoms in spring. A good, vigorous, disease resistant variety that is now a proven performer throughout the world. Prunus ‘Awanui’ is ideal as a large shade tree or avenue planting. Growth is upright and spreading to 6m.

Plant in full sun. Flowering Cherries are generally hardy but should be planted in a sheltered site to prolong the flowering period. Don’t allow them to dry out during hot dry periods. Stake well until established.

Grafted at a 1.25m standard. This means the plant has a 1.25m tall trunk before it begins branching out.
