$25.99
Punica granatum ‘Eversweet’ (Pomegranate)
Stunning, deciduous tree with glossy leaves and large, showy, bright scarlet-orange flowers in late spring and summer, followed by fruit in autumn. Great in containers or as a specimen in the garden. Vigorous and productive. Ideal as a hedge. Self fertile. Grows approximately 3m high x 3m wide.
Round, red fruit containing very sweet pulp with an almost clear juice, and virtually no seeds. Harvest late autumn/early winter. Will not ripen off the tree. Delicious as a cool drink or in jellies, sauces, and sweet and savoury cooking. Loaded with antioxidants! Will keep you young and healthy. Rich in vitamin C to keep your immune system healthy and potassium for controlling acid balance, and fibre to keep you regular.
Plant in a warm, sheltered site in full sun. Preferably in heavy soil, although will grow in any soil. The pomegranate thrives in hot, dry summers but requires moisture during the fruiting stage from late summer to late autumn. For full ripening ‘Eversweet’ requires warm autumn weather. Lightly prune after fruiting to desired shape and encourage new growth. Benefits from regular applications of mulch and fertiliser in spring.
