Prunus salicina – Plum ‘Hawera’

Highly recommended New Zealand selection, proving to be one of the best plums for the home garden. Large dark, red fruit with very firm, dark, blood-red flesh with excellent, sweet, juicy flavour. Great for eating and preserves. Self fertile and a heavy cropper. Mid season – harvest February. Grows approximately 5m high x 3m wide.

Full sun position with well drained soil. Frost hardy. Protect from wind to promote a better yield. Fertilise in spring and summer. Benefits from mulch.
