Heavy and reliable bearer of large, light yellow-green pears. Juicy and smooth textured with firm flesh. Super, all-purpose variety. Good dessert and cooking pear with excellent storage qualities. High chilling hours required to set fruit. Early season ripening; harvest in April.
Cross-pollinates with Pears ‘Beurre Bosc,’ ‘Taylor’s Gold,’ ‘Winter Nelis,’ and Nashis. Pear trees are excellent for espalier training. Grows approximately 6m high x 4m wide in 10 years.
Requires a full sun position for best fruit development. Pears are deep rooted and will grow in most soil types. Tolerant of wet soils in the summer, though not in winter. Grows well in cooler areas with mild summers. Shelter from wind and protect new growth from spring frosts.
