Pear Dual Beurre Bosc/Packham’s Triumph

$84.99

Pyrus communis (European Pear)

Double grafted – two varieties on one tree.

Beurre Bosc: Superb, quality eating pear with, large, brown, long-necked fruit. Flesh is sweet, juicy and buttery in texture with the taste developing after 3-4 weeks in the refrigerator. Has high chilling requirements to set fruit. Regular and heavy, mid-season cropper. Harvest April.

Packham’s Triumph: Heavy and reliable bearer of large, light yellow-green pears. Juicy and smooth textured with firm flesh. Super, all-purpose variety. Good dessert and cooking pear with excellent storage qualities. High chilling hours required to set fruit. Early season ripening; harvest in April.

Tree is vigorous with an upright and spreading habit. Will grow approximately 6m high x 4m wide. Requires a full sun position for best fruit development. Pears are deep rooted and will grow in most soil types. Tolerant of wet soils in the summer, though not in winter. Pears grow well in cooler areas with mild summers but ‘Winter Nelis’ is a variety that performs well in warmer areas. Shelter from wind and protect new growth from spring frosts.
