Great specimen tree that will add interest to your garden with it’s unusual fruit. Quick growing deciduous tree with upright growth habit. Full size of 6m tall by 3m wide. White clusters of flowers in spring. The edible part is the swollen stem before the fruit or small seed. The edible stem/fruit is ripe in autumn. Self-fertile. Use fresh as nature’s own pretzels. Can be dried for a more intense flavour. Use in muffins and cakes where you would use raisins or sultanas.

Will grow in most soils and climates although some protection from heavy winds while young is recommended. Provide a full sun position. Frost tolerant. Mulch after planting to support a healthy root system. Prune to maintain desired size and shape. Fertilise in spring.
