Hydrangea petiolaris (Climbing Hydrangea)

Deciduous, self-climbing Hydrangea which grows well up trees and shaded brick walls where they have an uneven surface to attach to. Produces a cascading effect of lightly green tinted, cream lacecap-type flowers in summer. Dense, heart-shaped, dark green foliage. Grows approximately 5m high x 2m wide in 10 years. Can grow up to 10m.

Suits a position in full sun to part shade with some protection from harsh summer sun. Hydrangeas prefer a moist but well drained soil, benefiting from regular watering in summer and mulching. Avoid watering the flowers and leaves. Feed in spring for optimum results. Remove spent flower heads and prune after flowering finishes.
