Fig Panache

$24.99

Ficus carica – Fig ‘Panache’

Tropical-looking, deeply lobed leaves cover this stunning shade tree, providing the most nutritional fruit. Grow as a compact tree in a container on the deck, espaliered against a fence or a large, sprawling tree for the kids to climb. Attractive, deciduous tree growing up to 4m in height and 3m wide.

Also known at the Tiger Fig, for it’s distinctive yellow and green striped, conical fruit. Ornamental, but great for eating with exceptionally sweet, cherry-red flesh. Similar  in every way to a berry jam. Self fertile but produces a larger crop when planted near another fig.

Full sun. Plant in warm, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Figs require plenty of moisture during the growing season to enhance sweet, juicy fruit. Prune annually in late winter to maintain desired shape and size. Fertilise in spring. Frost tolerant.
