$39.99
Feijoa sellowiana ‘Unique’
Small-medium sized tree which is both vigorous and compact! Great for smaller spaces and where you only have need for one Feijoa. Attractive, dark green leaves with silvery undersides and a mass of brilliant red, Pohutukawa-like flowers in summer. Feijoa are very adaptable and make excellent choices for screening and hedges. Grows approximately 3m high x 2m wide in 10 years unless pruned. Evergreen.
Produces heavy crops of small-medium sized fruit with rough, light green skin. Pulp is juicy and aromatic, with a mild, delicate flavour. Early-mid season, harvest through April-May. The unique quality of Feijoa ‘Unique’ is that it is one of the only truly self-fertile varieties and does not require other plants for cross-pollination. Brilliant source of vitamin C and dietary fibre.
Plant all year round in fertile, well drained soil with plenty of organic matter in a full sun position. Mulch after planting to support a healthy root system. Frost and drought tolerant. Performs best in average-drier soils with moisture during fruit development, but will tolerate periods of quite wet conditions. Fertilise in late winter.
