NZ apple variety originating from a very old tree in the Manawatu. Reliable cropper with large, crisp fruit, good for cooking, juicing, or eating when tree-ripened. Shiny, red striping over a light green skin. Mid to late season ripening, approximately May. Vigorous, disease-hardy tree. Self-fertile but produces better yields with cross pollination. Grows approximately 3m high x 2m wide.

Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot in free draining soil prepared with organic matter. Stake well for support. Water frequently while young, during long, dry periods and while the fruit is developing. Frost tolerant while dormant but protect fresh buds from spring frosts.
