Small evergreen tree with highly fragrant, pinnate, shiny, dark green leaves, growing to approximately 2.5m high by 2m wide. Sprays of small, white, fragrant flowers bloom throughout the year, followed by clusters of black berries. The berries are edible but the seeds are not. Plant close to the kitchen for easy use and to enjoy the attractive, fragrant foliage. A culinary must for all curry dishes. The highly aromatic, fresh leaves are used in Indian cooking, curries and soups.
Plant in well drained, moist soil in full sun or partial shade. Mulch after planting to support a healthy root system. Protect from frosts and strong winds. Prune in spring to encourage growth and shape. Fertilise in spring. Great for growing in pots and containers.
