Giant, arrow-shaped leaves are a deep, blackish-purple with bright green veins. The purple colour becomes more dominant with higher sun exposure. Grows approximately 1.5m high x 1m wide.

Subtropical plant benefits from a warm, humid climate. Full sun to part shade. Rich, moist soil. This plant does well in a bog or even in the margins of a water garden, as well as in average garden soil. Tolerant of wet feet. Not suitable for dry areas.
