Clianthus Puniceus Albus
Clianthus puniceus ‘Albus’ (White Kaka Beak)
Native to the North Island of New Zealand. Distinctive shrub with long, spreading branches covered in small, soft, light green leaves. Clusters of large, showy, cream-white flowers hang along the branches in winter and spring. The flowers are full of nectar and very attractive for native birds. Grows approximately 2m high x 1m wide.
Full sun to part shade. Will grow in most well drained soils, and tolerates dry conditions once established. Can be frost tender when young so some protection is preferable. Frost hardy once established. Suitable for coastal conditions. Trim to shape after flowering.
