Clianthus maximus (Red Kaka Beak)
New Zealand native. Soft, sprawling shrub with fine, light green, pinnate leaflets. Large, red, bird-attracting, parrot-beak flowers produced in mass through spring and autumn. Grows approximately 2m high x 1.5m wide.
Full sun to part shade position in well drained soils. Tolerant of poor soils and coastal conditions. Frost hardy once established but protect while young. Suitable for coastal conditions. Prune after flowering.
