Chilean Guava

$15.99

Myrtus ugni – Chilean Guava, NZ Cranberry

An evergreen that can be grown as a hedge or in pots and containers. Clips well into a low, formal style hedge, making a nice, edible substitute for box hedging.

Grows approx 30cm-1.5m, trim to size. Plant 4-5 plants per metre for hedging. Regular trimming after fruiting is recommended as it naturally forms a leggy, sprawling shrub.

Fruits late summer/autumn with small, very tasty, perfumed, red berries. Can be eaten fresh or added to other fruits in desserts.

Grows in full sun or part shade with fertile, well drained soil. Tolerant to sandy and clay soil types. Hardy to all except severe frosts. Tolerant of salt air but performs best when sheltered from strong winds.
