Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea ‘Helmond Pillar’ (Japanese Purple Barberry)
A hardy, upright, ornamental shrub with rich, purple-red leaves which hold their colour throughout spring and summer, turning bright red in fall. Pale yellow flowers appear mid to late spring, followed by red berries that are eaten by birds. The tight column of upright stems needs no trimming to keep its form. Stems have very sharp thorns. Great for restricted sites. Grows approximately 2m high x 1m wide.
