The Scarlet Banksia is one of the most striking banksias. It is a medium sized plant that can be quite long lived once established. The bright red, terminal flowers are produced throughout late winter and spring. The flowers are not only sought after for floral work but are bird attracting also. A very appealing plant on it’s own or group planted. More suited to a larger garden. Grows up to 3m.

Requires an open, sunny position with well drained, acidic soil. Pick flowers floral use as a form of pruning. Prune after flowering has finished to enhance flower production for the following year. Suitable for coastal conditions. Will withstand cooler climates and is mildly frost tolerant.
