Avocado Cleopatra
$74.99
Persea americana – Dwarf Avocado ‘Cleopatra’
Being a dwarf-grown avocado doesn’t mean this plant lets down on fruit. ‘Cleopatra’ flowers heavily and produces a good crop of medium-sized, pear-shaped fruit larger than the well-known ‘Hass’ variety. Yellow flesh with a rich, creamy flavour. Shiny, dark skin that turns black prior to harvest.
Very vigorous and prolific bearer. Fruit matures 9-12 months from flowering depending on heat. Very long fruiting time from July through to December. ‘Cleopatra’ is a self-fertile variety, though possesses a primarily B-type flowering pattern. Cross pollination with Avocados ‘Hass’ or ‘Reed’ will increase fruit set.
Beautiful, bushy, compact, evergreen tree. Forms a thick canopy with large, leathery, dark green leaves, grown well as a dense shade tree. Grows approximately 3m high x 3m wide in 10 years.
Grow in a full sun position with good, aerated, well drained soil. Avocado trees will not tolerate wet and compacted soils. Benefits from plenty of organic material and mulch. Fertilise regularly during spring and summer and water during dry periods.
