Apple Dual Red Delicious/Granny Smith

$84.99

Double grafted – two varieties on one tree.

Red Delicious: Conical/heart-shaped fruit with striking, bright red skin that is sometimes striped. The flesh is crunchy and very juicy with a mild, sweet flavour. Harvest March.

Granny Smith: Produces a large green fruit with a tart, well balanced flavour and crisp, juicy white flesh. A red blush appears on the skin when grown in colder areas. It crops late in the season and has a long picking period. Harvest May. Fruit has excellent keeping qualities. Tree is self fertile and a regular bearer that is suited to most climates. Tip bearing. Granny Smith is an excellent pollinator for other apple varieties.

Tree grows approximately 4m high x 3m wide. Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot in free draining soil prepared with organic matter. Stake for support until established. Water frequently while young, during long, dry periods and while the fruit is developing. Frost tolerant while dormant but protect fresh buds from spring frosts.
