Alectryon excelsus (Titoki, NZ Oak)

Outstanding NZ native that forms a handsome, spreading tree with a neat, rounded head. Foliage emerges bronze-pink and mature out large, glossy, mid green leaves. Sprays of rusty-red, woolly flowers appear in summer followed by scarlet berries with jet black seeds. Attractive specimen tree for good-sized gardens. Great as a shade or street tree. Evergreen. Grows approximately 7m high x 5m wide 10 years.

Full sun to part shade. Will grow in quite exposed conditions but protect from harsh frost. Thrives in moist, well drained soils and is tolerant of clay.
