Feijoa Den’s Choice
$32.99
Feijoa sellowiana ‘Den’s Choice’
Medium-sized Feijoa tree which is moderately compact and easy to manage – great for smaller, more contained spaces. Hardy and vigorous grower. Attractive, dark green leaves with silvery undersides and a mass of brilliant red, Pohutukawa-like flowers in summer. Feijoa are very adaptable and make excellent choices for screening and hedges. Grows approximately 3m high x 2m wide in 10 years unless pruned. Evergreen.
Crops medium-large sized fruit with smooth, light green skin and yellow flesh. Early season, harvest from late May. Partially self fertile but fruit set will greatly increase and be more reliable when planted with a Feijoa of another variety to cross-pollinate. Brilliant source of vitamin C and dietary fibre.
Plant all year round in fertile, well drained soil with plenty of organic matter in a full sun position. Mulch after planting to support a healthy root system. Frost and drought tolerant. Performs best in average-drier soils with moisture during fruit development, but will tolerate periods of quite wet conditions. Fertilise in late winter.
