Pear Conference
$69.99
Pyrus communis ‘Conference’ (European Pear)
Reliable, heavy cropping pear with long-necked, green, russeted fruit. Firm, juicy, creamy-white flesh with good, sweet flavour. Harvest mid-season; mid-autumn. Pick when fruit is still hard for storage.
Partially self-fertile, but for best fruit set, cross-pollinate with Pear ‘Packham’s Triumph’. A great choice for home gardens. Tree is moderately vigorous and partly spreading. Pear trees are excellent for espalier training. Grows approximately 4m high x 3m wide in 10 years.
Requires a full sun position for best fruit development. Pears are deep rooted and will grow in most soil types. Tolerant of wet soils in the summer, though not in winter. Grows well in cooler areas with mild summers. Shelter from wind and protect new growth from spring frosts.
