Boysenberry ‘Brulee’ is a cross between a blackberry and raspberry. Vigorous, semi-thornless variety. Produces heavy yields of late season, large purple/black berries of excellent flavour. Harvest February to March when full colour is reached. Self-fertile. Grows approximately 2.5m high x 2m wide.
Devour straight from the plant or spoil yourself with a Brulee using your own boysenberries! Try the traditional jam or pie. Boysenberries can also be frozen. High in vitamin C and A, potassium and calcium.
Plant in well drained soil rich in organic matter with a support frame to keep brambles off the ground. Mulch after planting to protect and support the healthy growth of the boysenberry’s shallow, fibrous root system. Provide full sun. Frost tolerant. Prune in winter when the plant is dormant. Fertilise early spring.
